Something Sweet (and healthy) For Your Sweet: Breville Hand Blender Review

by Amry on February 14, 2013

smootiebreakfastHappy Valentine’s Day! Thanks to the lovely people at Littlewoods, I had an extra helping hand in the kitchen this morning as I whipped up (or I should say blended up) a wholesome and healthy Valentine’s breakfast for my family. Sweet and simple smoothies were on the menu A. because they are always a family favourite, B. they can easily be made perfectly pink – which ties in to the whole holiday colour scheme and C. because at least we’d be guaranteed a few of our five a day before indulging in the odd chocolate treat that this holiday is known for!

The Breville hand blender generously includes the handy attachments of a whisk; perfect for egg whites & cream, a 500ml food chopper; which blitzes up herbs, nuts & vegetables with ease, and a 700ml plastic beaker; which is ideal for blending directly in to. The stainless steel body of the hand blender is sturdy and with two speed controls feels very professional. The whole set up is self explanatory and simple – but just incase you’d like some added assistance, it also comes with an instruction booklet complete with a few recipes to get you started.

brevillepartsI set to work on a standard breakfast smoothie of natural yogurt, blueberries, a ripe banana, extra strawberries (to ensure that perfect pink colour) and a good splash of orange juice. This is where the measuring beaker came in handy as I just chucked all the ingredients into the large cup and was ready to get mixing!

The first setting was plenty powerful and had our delicious drinks ready in a matter of moments. I imagine I’ll put the second, more powerful, setting to the test on heartier soups or sauces.

But for now it was just a bit of blitzing and breakfast was served! And the best bonus of all with these hand blendersĀ is that the clean up is as quick as it comes! And as a busy Mum, you know how important that is!

Admittedly, when I was in the pureeing phase of parenting I picked up a cheapo supermarket brand food blender which didn’t last more than a month! This hand blender, however, is miles apart from my previous experience – which just reiterates you get what you pay for. For a few extra pounds it’s worth it to invest in a quality piece of kitchen equipment like this, which will make light work of many family meals to come. It has my stamp of approval!

If you’d like to learn more about this hand blender & other food blender options, then look no further than the Littlewood’s online catalogue.

And with that, I hope you and your little loves have the most wonderful of Valentine’s Days!

Love, Amry xxx
