Pregnant In Paris

by Amry on July 17, 2013

Last week our little family spent a fantastic few days in the beautiful city of Paris! My husband organised a wonderful mini-break to celebrate my 30th birthday (I know, he’s kinda the best) and we decided to bring Amelia along for her first European adventure! Remember how I said I was going to narrow down the number of photos I took? Well … I lied. Here’s our trip to Paris in lots ‘o pictures!

My supermodel little sister is currently living & working in Paris and we were thrilled we got to soak up some time with her! Amelia was over the moon to be reunited with her Aunt Karley & rarely left her side! I might add that at 7 months pregnant, it’s perhaps not the best idea to stand directly next to or have any full length photos taken with said supermodel sister. But she’s so lovely that we can forgive her for the fact that her thighs don’t even come close to touching.

A simple, yet memorable moment was adding our own lock to the Love-Lock Bridge suspended over the Seine. We noted our names and the date (which was my 30th birthday) and found a spot among the hoards to fasten ours to the bridge. Amelia then did the honours & threw the key into the river! I wonder if we’ll ever be able to find it again on a future visit?

We were total tourist and hit up all the main sightseeing spots. Amelia’s favourite attraction was heading all the way to the top of the Eiffel Tower. This girl has no fear and didn’t even bat an eyelid at the height of it. Myself & Karley weren’t so brave, so stayed firmly planted on the second level – which was still plenty high for us wimps. But in our defence we’ve both been to the top before, so aren’t complete cowards – it’s just at this stage of pregnancy I thought it best not to send my heart rate soaring as I ascended to the top. Anyway, that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it.

We covered lots of ground and sweated our way through the city! The crazy heatwave didn’t hold us back – but it did make us shell out lots of extra euros on cold drinks!

When travelling with a three year old you have to make time for plenty of Parisian pastries, playtime at the local parks & pigging out on Nutella crepes! As you can see we ticked all of those boxes!

Like I said at the beginning of this mammoth post, these few days in Paris were fantastic! It was such a memorable way to spend one of my milestone birthdays! It was also so fun to create these new memories as a family. Travelling with a three year old will always come with the odd challenge, but I won’t ever regret taking the risk and giving Amelia these experiences. We’ve got a lot of world to explore as a family, so best to start them young I say!

Have you taken a memorable trip as a family? I’d love for you to share your experiences of travelling with kids. And thanks for allowing me to indulge you with our adventure!

Love, Amry xxx
