Pumpkin Picking

by Amry on October 30, 2013

In the days leading up to Halloween each year, it has become tradition that we pull on our coats & wellies, set out to a near by pumpkin patch, board a good old tractor pulled hayride & go in search of a pumpkin perfect for carving. It’s these kind of days that make this my favourite time of year. But it nearly didn’t happen this year. What with juggling a newborn, and facing the half term crowds at the farm – I contemplated just snapping up a couple of pumpkins on sale at Sainsburys and calling it a day. But where’s the fun in that? Not to mention Amelia is a now at an age (and so holiday obsessed) that she anticipates these festive days out and would have given me so much grief if we didn’t uphold one of our favourite family Halloween traditions. So we took to the patch and in spite of the crowds, the recent stormy weather, pretty picked over fields and Amelia constantly complaining that she had to blow her nose – it was still a fun afternoon picking pumpkins!

carvedpumpkinHave you got pumpkins prepared for a wickedly wonderful Halloween tomorrow? Hope so, it’s all part of the fun! Have a very Happy Halloween everyone!

Love, Amry xxx
