Better Late Than Never

babybook

Guys, I have a Mummy confession to make. Here it goes. Despite all my good intentions when Amelia was born, I am only just now starting her baby book. I know, I know, major Mummy fail (she’ll be three this June)! I’ve been good at keeping of a record of things (milestones, trips, funny happenings), taking lots of photos and even writing my own reflections on Motherhood regularly in a journal that I will give her someday – but when it came to filling in the technical details (when & where you were born, place first scan photo here) in a baby book, it just didn’t happen. But enough excuses, I’m now bound and determined to get this book finished before baby number two arrives (and then I’ll start their baby book three years later – ha ha)!

babybook2So I finally found a book I liked and set to work filling in the blanks, placing photos and including mementos of memorable occasions. It’s been such a strange time tunnel to start back from the beginning and even harder to believe that in a few short months we’ll be doing it all over again.

How about you? Did you diligently complete a book for your baby from the beginning? Is anyone going to make me feel better and say they also didn’t start one right away? Did you even bother at all? I resisted the idea of one for so long but then remembered how much I love flipping through my own baby book when I’m visiting home – or even my husband’s which is in French. As kitsch as they seem now, they are also full of details and loving memories that otherwise we’d have no idea about and that’s reason enough for me. Hopefully someday Amelia will look back and be glad I got it together and got to work on it!

Love, Amry xxx

This is such an encouraging post – I have an 18 month old and an empty baby book! Now feeling a little less guilty – there is hope for that book …

I’m glad this has given you some encouragement! The more time that went by the more the idea overwhelmed me – but just take the first step of starting it and then chip away at it as & when you can. Don’t feel guilty, as Mums it’s not like we don’t have a million other things on our plates! X

I have a pretty empty book too; a while ago I got some photos printed and stuck them in but I havent actually written anything down yet! I’ve been doing monthly posts since Holden was born so I hope I have all the info when I get round to it. I’ve just finished his christmas & birthday thank you cards so maybe this could be next!

Time slips by fast does’t it Gaynor?! It’s a good start that you have a record of all the info you’ll need! Now for finding a spare moment to transfer it into a baby book! Wait, a spare moment? What’s that? X
