That Boy Loves His Dummy

by Sarah on January 14, 2013

I know my boy enjoys having a dummy, but it wasn’t until my Mum pointed out just how many are scattered around our house that I started to appreciate the full extent of his habit! A chip off the old block – I had a dummy until I was 4 years old!!! My parents tried to dispose of mine all the time but I’d just go and dig it out of the bin – even if it was covered in filth! Some of my earliest memories involve me plotting to find my beloved dummers! I worry wonder if my darling son will be the same and if I’ll be prizing it from his mouth en route to school…

I do now find it so charming that Dylan can now pop a dummy in his mouth all by himself and we’ve even started to scatter a couple in his cot so he can always lay his hand on one at night…that’s led to a lot less night wakings. In the morning he runs his dummy along the bars of his cot {much like a prisoner with a tin cup!} and merrily sings along to it’s tuneful sound – so cute.

So are you a dummy lover or hater? Have you found it a God-send to use or do you wish your child would kick it’s habit already? And what’s the right age to ditch the dummy? Feel free to leave a comment below – I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Well I had a dummy and somehow turned out alright! However I do still share the bed with my beloved teddy that I received for Christmas when I was 5……. Hmmm do you think it’s related, ditched the dummy but the teddy stays! Yes that’s right all 4 of us in bed every night, that’s me, my man, butter bear (my teddy) and cheesecake (the dog). It’s gonna be a full on party when we have kids. Ps did I mention that I’m 31?
